Foreigners looking to work for self-employment in Spain must request a residence and work permit. As a consequence of pursuing new economic activity for self-employment, the requirements to apply for this type of permit differ on some levels from the requirements for paid-employment.
First, the foreigner carrying out a self-employed economic activity is required to possess particular professional qualifications or accredited experience in order to realize such activity. In cases where the economic activity requires obligatory licensing, then that will also be demanded of the applicant.
In order to begin implementing the lucrative activity, immigration regulations has established the need for the fulfillment of all requirements required by the current legislation. The applicant must guarantee a sufficient investment for the proper execution of the economic activity.
This residence and work permit is valid for one year and it may be renewed if and when the applicant provides proof of economic activity continuation and fulfillment of fiscal and social security obligations.
