How much money do I need to travel to Spain?
Thousands of people travel to Spain each day. One of the requirements in order to travel to spain is to have enough economic resources to support yourself during your stay.
The most common questions are: How much money do I need to take? How can I prove that I do have the amount required?
This requirement is of great importance because it will show the authorities that you have enough money to support yourself while you are visiting.
Also, it is important to remember that everyone (those who need a visa to come to Spain and those who do not need a visa to enter Spain) needs to prove this requirement.
If you do not need a visa to enter Spain, the authorities in immigration will ask you or this requirement.
If you do need a visa to enter Spain, you must prove you meet this requirement at the same time you apply to get your visa.
The following order:
La Orden del Ministerio de la Presidencia PRE/1282/2007, de 10 de mayo de 2007,
explains that any foreigners coming to spain must prove enough economic resources:
- To support themselves during their stay in Spain: the amount must represent 10% of SIM (in euros) which is equivalent to around 90 euros per day multiplied by the number of days of your stay and by the number of people that travel with you (if that is the case).
How can I prove that I have the amount needed?
You could prove it by taking cash, check certificates, traveller´s check, credit cards, etc.
