Will I have to gather or legalize my documents again?
On March 18, a communication was published by the General Directorate of Migrations that explains the Royal Decree that declares the state of alarm since March 14.
We are currently receiving many questions about what will happen to the documentation that has been requested or obtained and is about to expire.
The following measure has been taken, we transcribe:
In order to avoid prejudice to the rights and interests of the interested parties and those affected in the procedures regarding foreigners and taking into account the provisions of the foreigners legislation with the provisions regarding the administrative deadlines included in Royal Decree 463/2020, of 14 March, the following is noted:
…..
d) Those documents required in the procedure and whose validity has expired during the current exceptional situation will be accepted.
This means that if you have gathered documentation such as: criminal records or other certificates and these have expired (or will expire) during the alarm state, you can use them when the situation returns to normal, that is, when the state of alarm ends.
